**Where You've Been**

- In your previous course, you learned to add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals and integers.

**Where You're Going**

- In Chapter 1, you will use the properties of addition and multiplication as well as the order of operations to add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals and integers.
- Applying what you learn, you will compare the temperatures of various places.

**Chapter 1 Overview**

In this chapter, students will build on their knowledge of mental math and estimation strategies as they compute with decimals and measures in metric units. They apply their prior knowledge of algebraic properties and number sense as they learn to compare and order integers, and to add, subtract, multiply, and divide them. They also apply skills learned in the chapter to find measures of central tendency.
